€300m St George's Bay project will give Malta 'most sophisticated place to go'

City Centre, a major investment in St George's Bay "is set to be the most sophisticated place to go in Malta, according to the db group.

The investment was announced by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and the chairman of db Group Silvio Debono.

The development will feature extensive leisure, shopping and conference facilities as well as retail and residential facilities and a 315-room Hard Rock Hotel.

IMF ATTRIBUTES MALTA’S EXCEPTIONALLY STRONG ECONOMIC GROWTH TO SOUND POLICIES

The Government welcomes the 2016 Article IV Mission report published yesterday by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following their ten-day mission to Malta where they evaluated in depth the economic and fiscal state of the Maltese economy. In particular, it welcomes the report’s opening statement where it attributes Malta’s exceptionally strong economic growth to sound policies and favourable external and domestic conditions.

 

$100 million investment to develop Crane Currency banknote facility in Malta

In a live-streamed video from Boston at Crane Currency’s headquarters, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced the signing of a new agreement that will lead to a $100 million investment and the creation of 200 jobs.

The banknote printing investment company will be preparing for operations in Malta over the coming year, with training courses aimed at both young and older workers to acquire necessary skills to land a job at the Hal Far site where Crane will have its facility, next to the Playmobil factory.

Malta’s economy has the potential to emerge even stronger in 2017 despite a high level of uncertainty in the global and European economies, HSBC Malta CEO Andrew Beane said while speaking at The Economist’s The World in 2017 Gala Dinner Malta.

VistaJet invests another €100 million in Malta’s aviation industry

VistaJet has announced a further €100 million investment in Malta’s aviation industry with the purchase of three new luxury jets, all of which arrived in Malta on Friday.

The acquisition has seen the company’s fleet increase to a total of 70 private aircraft, 60 of which are registered in Malta, while the rest are split between locations in the United States and China.

Malta climbs eight places in World Economic Forum competitiveness-report

Malta is improving its competitiveness according to a report released by the World Economic Forum. In the report Malta was placed 40th in the overall ranking, making the fifth largest jump out of the 138 countries involved.  This was the highest position achieved within the last decade.

With regards to the economic environment Malta has placed 21st, significantly higher than the 71st place achieved by the final year of theprevious administration, the government said in a statement.
